What Is Autism?

Autism is a disorder resulting from a neurological defect in brain function. It appears at birth or during the first three years of a child's life. It continues throughout his/her entire life leading to the inability to engage individually in social environments as well as challenges with repetitive behaviors, speech, and nonverbal communication.
